Olathe Fire Protection District is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Firefighter/BLS or ALS (EMT, Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic) with Colorado state certifications.

Please carefully read this announcement regarding qualifications, submittal information, hiring timeline, and deadlines. 

Applications received after the closing deadline of April 28, 2025, at 1500 (3:00 p.m.) will not be considered for this hiring process.

Salary: $57,200 - $67,600 annually (depending on EMS certification level).

Responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Full-time crews work a 48/96 shift schedule.
  • Perform firefighting work, including preventing, combating and extinguishing fires to save and protect life, property and the environment.
  • Drive, operate and maintain fire apparatus and equipment appropriately.
  • Provide emergency medical care and inter-facility transfers within scope of practice.
  • Quickly and effectively analyze hazardous situations and take appropriate actions.
  • Participate in training and maintain certifications.
  • Upkeep of station, grounds and related equipment.
  • Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age with High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass both written and physical tests.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Colorado State Certifications.
  • Firefighter Level I or higher.
  • Colorado State Certified EMT, Advanced, Intermediate or Paramedic.

Hiring Process Timeline:

            4/03/25 – Application opens

            4/28/25 – Application window closes, 3:00 p.m.

            5/13/25 – Physical agility tests at Olathe Fire Protection District, Olathe CO, 10:00 a.m.

            5/14/25 – Interviews with Hiring Board, start 9:00 a.m.

            5/19/25 – Chief’s Interview, start 1:00 p.m.

            5/21/25 – Notifications and conditional offer

            5/22/25 – Start background check and verifications

            5/30/25 – Formalize final offer

            6/15/25 – New hire start date
